This New Delhi residence reinterprets traditional Indian design forms through a seamless dialogue with the contemporary. Spread across 7,000 sq ft, the duplex combines heritage inspirations with modern comfort, creating a home that feels timeless yet alive.
The design by Saka Studio reflects the owners’ wish to celebrate Indian culture while avoiding stark modernism. Classical carved furniture, Rajasthani-inspired swings, and richly textured surfaces are balanced with a restrained architectural framework. Warm yellows and deep blues flow across the interiors, lending vibrancy to living areas while dark wooden furniture grounds the spaces in tradition.
The ground floor accommodates the living, dining, kitchen, and a guest bedroom, while the upper floor holds the family’s private quarters. A home theatre and intimate gathering spaces bring together modern lifestyle needs with nostalgic charm.
Each element has been carefully considered—whether a bar niche designed as a traditional seating space, or crafted consoles and chests that echo the legacy of Indian craftsmanship. Even spatial gestures, such as wide arches and carved mirrors, reinforce the sense of heritage reimagined.
This residence embodies “romancing the past”—a house where the familiar comfort of Indian tradition merges effortlessly with the elegance of contemporary design.
