Dream Coffee Estate
Date
April 2025
Location
Coorg
Tucked deep in the lush coffee estates of Coorg, this home was envisioned as a slow retreat—a place where architecture holds space for silence, mist, and memory. Set within a 3.5-acre plantation, the 6,400 sq ft residence is rooted in the land’s textures and cadences. Its design draws from vernacular language—laterite walls, sloped terracotta roofs, and deep timber overhangs—while opening up to contemporary comforts through volume, proportion, and light.
The heart of the home is its double-height living pavilion: carved columns, a floating balcony, and an exposed ceiling that frames the sky. Local materials—sadarahalli stone, teak, and cane—anchor the interiors in warmth, while every window is a vantage into forest and rainfall. The bedrooms are calm, tactile sanctuaries, painted in soft mineral tones and layered with handwoven textiles and brass details.
Rainwater slides off tiled roofs into quiet courtyards; breezes slip through arched cutouts; light pools slowly across the floor—everything in this home is tuned to the rhythm of Coorg. More than a house, it is a gesture of stillness—crafted to disappear into the green.
