S Farm
This home is an excellent example of how a 30 year old home can be remodelled into a light-filled contemporary sanctuary. At the outset the home was a collection of disconnected rooms, dark and inward looking. Our design strategy was to break down the interior walls and add large openings towards the surrounding garden. The interior palette was intentionally chosen to be a pale palette of beige, ivory, soft blue and pale salmon to enhance the airy lightness that was the quality we were seeking to create.
The result is a fluid interconnected set of living spaces that open out into a single space and can be separated by glass sliding doors.
A sculptural copper staircase was added to become an art object within the interior.
A circular skylight above the family temple adjoins the staircase and allows natural light to wash the interior.
A bespoke brass screen wall screens the dining area from the central circulation spine that leads forward to the informal dining that overlooks the garden and connects to the family lounge and powder room at the rear of the home.
The upper floor accommodates the master bedroom suite with another lounge and his and her en suite dressers and baths.
This home has a palpable lightness of being and quietude that permeates all the living spaces.
